Back to winter

I tried to make ice cream today. It was my second batch of the year and it completely failed to freeze. This has only happened once before, when the frozen part of my ice cream maker wasn’t frozen. Ironic as we had hail and snow most of the afternoon. I might have more success if I had left the whole machine outside. The ice cream is in the freezer now.

It seemed appropriate to get Frustration out. We’ve only just retrieved this game from my parent’s house. The girls love it. TF does too, so long as he can pop the popper.

Then someone decided to create his own car. He had a lot of corners to negotiate and you can imagine the sound effects. I’m not sure where he was going…..

… but he picked up a couple of passengers.

Then the bubbles….

… and more bubbles….

Bit dark as it was hailing at the time.

It was one of those afternoons, when they played nicely together. Lots of sibling love and cooperation. What you don’t see in these photos is me working, trying desperately to finish a piece of work before school is out tomorrow. When we tidied up before bed, tonight, you could tell they had had fun. Toy boxes had been emptied, to make other essential vehicles, books had been read, play scenes set up. Who needs video games or TV, when you have bundles of imagination. Almost, almost worth all the mess and noise.
