Dotted around the garden are pink flowers. An abundance of pink flowers. As if dabbed there by an overly enthusiastic amateur painter, buoyed on by their primary success, with no concept of when to stop. In my defence, some were planted by the previous owner. Some, like the foxgloves and aquilegia, continue to self seed. Anticipating where or when they will appear is a futile pursuit.
I dug up a new area, this week. It is one of those difficult areas, but I figured if not now, then when. I had a couple of wild flower mats sitting on the shelf. It’s a bit late in the season, I admit, but there was no point waiting until next year, so I planted them.
Bonne chance mes petites fleurs.
After the hygienist
In the last year, I’ve been catching up on my health. I joined the gym, focussed on healthy food and caught up with almost all my routine health checks. I found, when you go to so many dentist and orthodontist appointments with your children, it is easy to overlook the fact you’ve not been regular with your own. Dental hygienist is one such appointment. This week I caught up.
My dentist is a stone’s throw away from my new favourite charity shop, so I pop in each time. My old habit was to buy a packet of biscuits after the appointments, which was probably cheaper but less kind on my waistline and teeth. As the inches disappear, my current wardrobe became baggy and I need to refresh it.
This time I found a skirt, a linen blouse, a denim dress and a blouse with pink flowers on it. All for £30. Happy days. I’m practically living in the denim dress.
Embroidered cushions
I made cushion covers this week and embroidered pink flowers on them. A bit like the garden, I’m not sure when to stop adding the flowers, but I think I got away with it this time. One cushion has my initial on it and the other has my husband’s.
The fabric was second hand from a flea market, which always makes me exceedingly happy. What with the blouse and plants from a previous cottage owner, I completely embrace the concept of being second hand Rose. Or maybe second hand pink flowers.
Hmmm. Maybe not. Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

Joining in with Anne’s word of the week linky. What’s your word for the week.
The colour pink has definitely dominated your week! I love the foxglove photo where you can just see the bee’s bottom poking out, they look very comfortable in there.
It’s good that you have been focusing on your health, as busy mums, I think it’s easy to look after others’ needs but not our own.
Have a lovely weekend x
I love that photo too. I think it is the fluffiness and spots of pollen. Good example of how bumble bees are more generous pollinators than honey bees.
The flowers are so pretty and I hope the wild flowers grow well. I found half a box of wild flower seeds and planted some this week too.
Great finds at the charity shop and those cushion covers are so pretty. x
Fingers crossed that the weather plays ball and it’s good conditions for wild flowers
The climbing roses and the foxgloves are simply beautiful! I love what you did with the embroidered cushions too. You are very talented!
Thank you! The cushions were a fun project.
The foxgloves are amazing, and the bee too. My brother had some that spread and he hadn’t realised. I’ve got flowers for the first time too. but they are red pink blue and white. I might have to show them off, I have on Instagram, but they’ve grown so much since the last pics. I hate a dental hygiene appointment more than a filling. It really makes me feel ick, but my teeth feel good afterwards.
I love your cushions too!
I hope your brother was pleased that they spread. I love seeing the foxgloves appear each year. Yes, show us your flowers. Brightens everything up. Ha! It does leave your teeth lovely and clean afterwards.
I personally like pink. It’s pretty fabric. I love flowers of all colors including pink ones. I’m glad you used the wildflower mats even if it is late to plant them. I hope you have a good week. #MMBC
The seedlings are already starting to appear from the wildflower mat, so I’m hopeful.
When we first moved her I planted a ton of perenniels. I don’t have the energy I once had for gardening but I so love seeing those crazy colors I picked back then.
What a lovely idea. You are enjoying the fruits of you labour.
Your foxgloves look amazing! I love the flowery blouse – what a bargain!
Foxgloves certainly put on a good show.
What beautiful foxgloves! It sounds like you had a very successful shopping trip. I do great on keeping up with dental appointments but I am awful with physicals/eye/ medical things… mostly because my boys and I all go to the same dentist and they make all of our appointments at the same time.
Having the same dentist must help. Unfortunately we don’t and that adds to the problem.
Lots of pink flowers for you this week. I love the way you’ve captured the bee visiting the foxgloves. Love the pink flowery blouse and the pink embroidered flowers on the cushion covers are so pretty. #WotW
Thank you. I’m very pleased with the cushions.
What a lovely selection of pink flowers. I love charity shopping. This year our garden is full of self seeded Sweet Williams and I’m not complaining, I’d like some of those foxgloves though. #wotw
