(Local drainage, called a rhyne – pronounced reen. Good place to spot kingfishers)
Pootling around the little lanes on the Somerset Levels, today. Honestly think I could do this all day. Every day.
Before heading home, we stopped at our favourite road side stall, picking up strawberries and asparagus. I made meringues to go with them, when we got home. Sprig of spearmint, a dollop of cream and a sprinkle of chocolate. Perfect.
Definitely a good ending to the weekend.
I don’t know if it’s the angle of the shot, but the lane does look very narrow and small. Kind of scary to drive I think. Your strawberries with meringue sounds wonderful! #MMBC
Oh. I should have labelled it better. I’ll go back and edit. That’s a dyke or, as it’s locally known rhyne. Although the roads are worse in part, due to burtles which are naturally bumps in the road. Bit unnerving as rhynes tend to run on either side of the road and you do not want to hit one at speed!
Gorgeous photos!
Those strawberries look so tasty x #MMBC
I can vouch that they were very tasty.
Sounds like a perfect day to me, you live in such a beautiful area. I bet you need no convincing to get out and about. #MMBC
Especially if the weather is good. It is lovely.
Them strawberries look so vibrant and yum X #mmbc
They soon disappeared.
