What better way to spend a quiet Saturday afternoon, after the hustle and bustle of the last few weeks? Making toadstool biscuits, of course. We had so much fun making these seasonal biscuits. The biscuits are just your everyday, run-of-the-mill sugar cookie recipe. Covered in white icing made from icing sugar. Then cut the toadstool tops out of red fondant icing, using the top of the cookie cutter. A straw to make the holes. You can imagine that was a very popular job. Found if we put the red tops on the toadstoolsย before the white icing set, the icing would push through the holes. Perfect for the white spots.
Finally a green icing pen for the grass, and then 25 autumn toadstools were ready to eat. Oh wait. Make that 24.
So cute! And with their own basket, of course.
They had to have a basket. It only seemed right.
How brilliant are they..you clever lot! They look yummy!
Not just yummy, but fun to make too.
They are adorable and almost too cute to eat.
My children half agree with you. They have all been munched.
I love them, they look so pretty. I really want a mushroom cookie cutter now ๐

I danced a jig of joy when I found the mushroom cutter in a charity shop last year. Not seen one before. Could hardly leave it behind. ๐ I think it is a pretty easy shape to make using other cutters or a paper template, if you want to give it a go.
They oh so pretty I am not sure if I could eat them, lol X #mmbc
Ha! I’m sure you’d manage it. Didn’t stop the children.
Aww! They are so cute. What a lovely idea x #MMBC
It worked. We had lots of fun making them.
These are so cute and beautifully iced.
Thank you, Fiona
Aww, these are sweet. They look tasty too ๐ #MMBC ๐
Thank you, they are!
Just love your toadstool biscuits, that is one cutter shape I don’t have but am tempted to pop into our local cake shop and see if they have one.
Hope you find one. ๐
These are certainly very appealing to the eyes and I’m sure they taste much better than the red toadstool which they were inspired by. #MMBC
I hope so!
