There is a whirl of fabric being processed at the moment in our house. Not just to make one item, but a whole host. I’ve dived into the ever growing pile of preloved fabric. Time to use it or…….hmm…… lose it. The latter is a difficult concept for a squirrel like me. To soften the blow, I’ve started cutting up old skirts and jumpers ready for sewing.
Sometimes I can use a pre-existing pattern. Other times I have to make my own. With careful cutting and pattern design I can incorporate something of the original skirt, I’m cutting up. It’s fun and it challenges my creativity. I love it.
The finished articles will be nothing fancy. Practical, I hope. It’s more about the doing and not putting off. Oh Procrastination, you are most definitely a false friend.
I’m cutting out all the projects at the same time. My scissors are flying through layers of fabric at record speed. I find the first cut of any sewing project the hardest. By doing several projects at the same time, I’m sailing through this stage of the projects. I’ve cut most of the pieces out now. I envisage a pile of prepared projects lined up by my sewing machine. Then I’ll be able to sew, sew, sew.
Watch this space. Anyone else feel the urge to tackle several projects at the same time?
There is still time to enter the photo bag giveaway.
Gosh, looks like you are going to be a very busy bunny! Make sure you keep your energy levels up with plenty of tea and cake x
Good point! Must make more cake tomorrow. 😀
Wow you look busy.
I know that Procrastination fellow well, and try not to answer the door to it lol!
Spinning and knitting here, sorting through, documenting yarn and allocating projects. It can wait no longer. So cold today so it’s good to have wool around me.
Oh, I have images of you surrounded with wool in all it’s forms. Nice way to keep warm and who wants to do it when it’s hot.
I’m dreadful for having lots of things on the go at once. I think it does help to get all the pattern and fabric cutting prepared first, it all seems a bit tedious and then the sewing flies by. juliex
Me too! Usually they are neglected but still in the work basket.I’m hoping I can do all the projects simultaneously, if I do each stage for all of them at the same time. We’ll see!
Waiting for the next post….

Me too! One project is almost finished. Very satisfying.
Fantastic! I finished reading your post and felt a sense of urgency. I must find something to cut up.. now! Hmmmmm
Blessings, Debbie
I hope you found something that needed cutting up. Difficult to put it back together if you change your mind! 😀
i have started cutting up Old Thick Black Opaque nylon Tights ..luckily i get them donated as i work in a secondary School.
How intriguing. I’ve never made anything from tights. Just plant ties and an aid to making felt. You’ve got me wondering……
