I promised AJ a while back that I would teach her to spin. All the children have watched me at the wheel. They’ve all wanted to somehow join in, but I’ve only just reached the stage where I feel I can hand on this craft.
It takes patience to learn how to spin. Like any new skill, it also takes practise, but I think that, once mastered, it gives back that patience ten fold. I find the rhythm lends wonderfully to calmness and mindfulness. Even more than something like knitting and that is pretty good. I can spend a quiet half hour or two and, by the end, I can deal with anything that life throws at me. Well almost!
And now my eldest has started on the path to spinning. She took to it like a duck to water. Once again proving that it is so much easier to learn when you are young. Just need to add in a bucketful of practise and she’ll be better than me.
While she spun, we had a tiny visitor. It is baby toad season again. The combination of rain and the kitchen door left open, meant that this curious little chap was found hopping around the kitchen.
So small and looking a little bit grumpy.
Oh your little toad – sigh – too adorable for words!!!
It was very tiny and a totally cutie. They have a very trusting manner about them. I could swear the baby toads are reaching our garden, smaller than last year.
sweetest little frog!
and hooray for learning on the wheel! i’m sure she loved every minute of it!
She is enjoying it and I am pleasantly surprised at her patience.
