I’m handing the blog over to Middle child today. It’s her first time writing here and she’s including her drawings. She’s been reading and would like to share a book. So over to you, Middle One.
I’ve not read any of the Dork Diaries before, but I really enjoyed reading ‘Puppy Love (Dork Diaries)! Especially when I’ve grabbed the comfy chair next to the Aga, before my sister gets there!
This book is about a teenage girl who isn’t allowed to keep a group of homeless dogs for the night. (Eight dogs!!!!) And has to hide them in her house from her parents and one mean girl! How hard can it be! Luckily she has two friends to help her. Chloe was my favourite character because she’s clever and funny!
I teased my teenage sister that the girls in the story talked like her [I like teasing her] but it’s true, they really do! (That made her read the book too, just to see what she sounded like! Hee! Hee!)
The only thing I find weird about it is everyone has [what it looks like] eye liner on, even the boys and the animals!
Also, the front cover is really, really pink! One of my friends loves pink, so I’m going to lend the book to her, but my best friend makes really crazy noises like she’s being strangled when she sees too much pink, so I might just hide it from her. Shame, I know she’d enjoy the story though.
This book is very good [most things, with dogs in, are good]. It’s a quick read which you could read in one day, or one to take to school when you only get a short time to read. I recommend it to any girls my age [10]! Especially those who love dogs.
My favourite part is at the end! It’s so cute! I can’t tell you. Ooh! I wish I could but I can’t, so you’ll just have to read it to find out!
Thank you, Middle One. I loved your drawings, too.
She really did enjoy this book. She said that it was like the Wimpy Kid series but better and would like to read more of the Dork Diaries.
Disclaimer: We were sent the book free (Thank you) in exchange for an honest review, in our own words. (I’ve always found that if you want an honest opinion, ask a child!)
Very enjoyable review and absolutely love the illustrations!
I think the book may now be searched out by the girls for a good read :0)
Thanks, Val. I’ll let her know. She’ll be pleased 🙂
what a great book review ! not a fan of too much pink eiher but the book sounds fun x
I guess it’s a case of not judging a book by its cover!
