I’m over on Minerva Crafts’ blog today, with a flower detail shift dress I made. It’s canvas fabric and threw up a couple of surprises as I was sewing.

I read your post over there, but I’ll comment here – great dress! I am also one to forgo hemming difficult fabrics, although I don’t have the patience to fringe it as you did, I just let it happen over time in the wash. And the majority of my clothing is patterned, too; I gravitate to the pretty designs, when I buy or when I sew, unless I make the conscious effort. I look at others with their solids and their wardrobes seem so sensible, but don’t know if I’ll ever get there. One thing though – grease spots are way more visible on solids! 😉 Good job.
Thank you for coming back to comment. Patterned fabric is so tempting. I take your point about grease marks though on plain. I do have a favourite dark, plain, work skirt that I love and has survived for years. I probably need more like that one. I did wonder if I should leave the hem for the wash to fray. I have washed it and so far there is no change in the fraying, so maybe I did manage to fray it to its limits!
