Joining in with Ginny’s yarn along, this week, again. It’s the nearest I get to a “knit and natter” get-together.
I have finished my second simple yarn-over shawl. I knitted until I ran out of wool and then I used up the last tiny ball, which I had left over from the first shawl. I need to block it now. I finished this last night, so nothing on my needles yet. I’ll cast on a Christmas present, this evening. I had to force myself to finish the last few rows of the shawl. I’m afraid I was very distracted by the list of tempting projects that I want to cast on before Christmas. I’m a great starter, but I have to concentrate on the finishing. Anyone else have this problem?
I am still reading Bad Science, but I just can’t sit down and read for any length of time, at the moment. I do like something to read, so I picked up this fun children’s poetry book – Read Me and Laugh. Some of these poems make me chuckle and the beauty is that I can read a few, just when I need to pause. We all need to pause occasionally. A light read is perfect.
I could do with that an easy read book somedays, I always try to fit in some reading at bedtime, but some books are so hard going and need lots of concentration it’s usually easier to listen to radio 4 and have someone else read to you.
Another shawl off the needles, I’m mightily impressed, the colour is beautiful. x
Easy reads are good at night. Most nights I just fall into bed. I do my reading at odd moments in the day, unless its one of those “I can’t put down” books. 😀
That is a beautiful shawl! You are almost inspiring me to learn how to knit.
Ha! I have to warn you though that knitting can be addictive! 😀
Your shawl is beautiful! That yarn really makes it special.
Thanks Kristina. A little yarn went a long way.
The shawl looks beautiful, I like that pattern so much – even if the last few rows seem to take forever!
And yep, I definitely have a much easier time starting projects than finishing them 🙂
Oh, the last rows really did take forever! I kept on wishing that I would run out of wool! I was deternmined to finish up the last of this wool, otherwise it would just hang around my stash for evermore. Reminding me I had rushed my shawl. Ready to knit something completely different, although I would knit one of these again.
It’s a lovely shawl – I would love to knit it (she says wistfully). The colour is beautiful.

Oh your poor wrist. There is always next year!
Such a beautiful shawl!
Thanks Emily. I love the colours.
Beautiful! I think every project should be a “knit until you’re out of yarn” one 🙂 I’m a chronic project initiator with a terrible completion record. Knitting gifts right up against the giving deadline helps, but that’s about the only thing…too many patterns & yarn, too little time.
😀
Too many good patterns and beautiful yarn to distract us knitters. 😀
