Its Wednesday. It must be Ginny’sĀ Yarn-Along.
What’s on my needles? Well, I’ve finished one of my squares for my patchwork knitted blanket….. and then I somehow got distracted and started on a pair of socks for AJ. I’m using my favourite two needle sock pattern. Its so quick. I’m using left over yarn from my wool stash.Ā As I’m not sure how far the wool will go, I opted to knit the two socks at the same time and stripes. I couldn’t resist adding a bit of fairisle into a couple of the strips. Just for fun.
There are going to be so many ends to sew in before these sweet socks can be worn. Not my favourite job, but I think the finished socks will make it worthwhile.
And books? I’ve made in roads into Dicken’s Hard Times. Originally each chapter would have appeared in a weekly magazine, which means that each chapter is an easy bitesize and tempts me to read the next chapter. Before I realise it, I’m sucked into the story.Very clever writing.
In reading too, I’ve been distracted. I squeezed in three Diana Wynne Jones books that I had ordered from the library….for AJ. Not me. I’ve ordered the next ones in the series for AJ, too.Ā Oh, who am I kidding! I’m loving them too!
edited: The two needle sock pattern is for sale via Ravelry. Four different styles in five sizes.

Haven’t read any of those books but I love how worn your copy of Dickens is, very cool. The socks are gonna rock! for sure and don’t you just love it when you complete a project. Makes you want to sit back and celebrate and well, buy yourself some more books (or yarn š )
Peace~

I love the socks, but am with you on the sewing in of ends!
And what else are children for, if not to give you an excuse to read books that are too “young” for you š
Same goes for the cinema. Some films need at least one child in the group.
Love the socks! I’m new to sock making so I don’t think I could do fair isle ones just yet.
I agree with you on not wanting to bury threads, but the socks are so lovely it’s worth it!!
What pretty socks. Knitting on two needles only? I looked on the other post you mentioned but don’t see the pattern you used. Is it on Ravelry? Very neat.
Oops! I’ve added the Ravelry link to the bottom of my post.
There’s nothing wrong with liking children’s books. š
Love the socks…the stripes are fantastic. I have never tried 2 needle socks before but now I am going to look into it. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve wanted to knit fair isle socks for ages and yours are particularly gorgeous, lovely colours………….good plan, knitting the two together…………don’t get in a tangle.

Lovely socks ! very pretty..I’m reading Great Expectations again ..it’s amazing the details I’d forgotten or missed..How I could forget Mrs Joe cutting bread against her apron and getting pins in the bread… I really don’t know. Dickens created/creates such vivid pictures it’s almost painful at times…thank you for the reintroduction
I’d forgotten that too. I’m due for a re-read too! I couldn’t have said it better. I think it is why so many TV adaptions and films never quite live up to the vivid pictures that Dickens creates for each reader. Glad you are enjoying Great Expectations.
Your socks look amazing!! I love the pattern š I have yet to try something like that and these are very inspiring. Happy knitting!
Well, they sure are a pretty and worthwhile distraction!
I own a copy of Hard Times. I have yet to crack it open. You’ve inspired me yet again. Clever you!
