We’re going on a puffin hunt.
We’re going to find a cute one.
What a beautiful blowy day
We’re …… not finding one
well, maybe not in our backgarden!
Not unless you count the puffin appliques that I machined onto the children’s tops last night. They love their puffins.
Seeing as BL had chosen a white t-shirt, I used fabric paint to make the puffin stand out.
Grass is always greener even on t-shirts.
So, of course, once TF saw the paint effect, he began to campaign to have green grass added to his puffin t-shirt too.
Happy to oblige.
In fact, I’m trying to persuade AJ, that her yellow top really, really needs some grass and purple heather added. Just some.
What do you think?
Some of us are still looking for the real puffins. Nope, no puffins in our yew tree. No harm in checking.
Joined in the FNSI last night. Appliqued the puffins on the two girls’ T-shirts and made the two quick summer skirts for them too.
So windy and cold today, that they’d only wear the skirts with leggings (pink leggings were the only ones left in the drawer). Never mind. When the weather changes, we’re ready. Bring it on!
So, did you join in the Friday night sew in? Great motivation for me to add a few more pieces to the children’s wardrobes. Maybe I should do this every Friday! Until then, I’m going to check out what all the other great sew-ins have been up to.
(For those of you that kindly requested the puffin template, I have not forgotten. I should get it to you soon.)
Also joining in with the crafty people over withh Sara at Craft Schooling Sunday and Handmade Harbour.
I’m definitely voting for the painted green grass and purple heather……………..gosh you were busy last night………………..gorgeous make-over tshirts, they look like they’re all setting out on a wildlife expedition…………….pretty skirts…………..I see, although TF wanted painted grass and heather, he was quite happy to forgo the pretty sewn skirt, lol. x 😀
😀 😀 Yes, he did turn down the idea of a skirt. I’m sure he’s building up to hinting about new trousers, but we will see. I think I’ve talked AJ on the grass and heather issue. I can’t wait to crack open the paints again.
what fun! these t shirts are adorable!
Thanks Kath. They turned out just as I wanted. I feel inspired to couple fabric applique and paint on more projects.
Oh so totally adorable!!! Totally!!!
Thanks, se7en. They are good fun to make and the children really do love them. 😀
Such a fun post and great puffins, I’ve just popped over from Handmade Harbour.
Jan 🙂
It was fun to join the children in. They have so many ideas. 😀
Love the T shirts and love how you’ve photographed the kids too – lots of fun! 🙂
They had fun thinking of different ways to look for puffins. We really need to go and see some real ones.
Love it! Looks like you had a lot of fun on your puffin hunt and matching tshirts just make it even better!
I hope that they don’t wear them all at the same time. It might be too much. They certainly had fun.
The puffins are great, although I was so busy looking for them, I didn’t see them on the children’s T shirts!! I like them both ways actually! With coloured backgrounds for the younger ones and maybe the one without the background is good for slightly older ones! Also like the sound of purple heather though! Ooh decisions, decisions!
It’s the purple heather that I really want to do! It would suit her too.
😆 Love them!!! Am a puffin fan and now want a big kids version 🙂
Puffins are so much fun. I think they work for all ages. I will be making more for sure. 😀
What an entertaining post! The Puffins are georgeous.
Thanks! We had great fun doing it. The summer may be less than convincing, but we can still have fun outside.
Fabulous! So colourful and such great fun.
I love the contrast of the colours. It works!! 😀
I love those T-shirts,the puffin’s gorgeous.
The tshirts turned out fun. Can’t wait to make more.
I LOVE those puffin shirts.
Actually I LOVE puffins and it is a goal of mine to see a wild one.
How sad is it that I have never seen a wild puffin 😥
And I don’t think living here it is likely to happen anytime soon…
But those shirts are great – If I could sew I would make one in an adult size
I guess there aren’t too many puffins in your mountains! I’m looking forward to seeing a few wild puffins too. Such sweet little birds. I love the way they walk. 🙂
I love the white t-shirt especially. Puffins are such lovely looking birds. Love your photographs too!
The painted tshirts turned out better than I hoped. Phew! I loved putting the image of a puffin on a tshirt. Fun little birds.
Love Love Love! So adorable and love the appique and fabric paint together! thanks so much for sharing on Craft Schooling Sunday!
Thanks Sara. I had fun making them.
nice …. 🙂
Thanks.
