So the weekend has passed. My big girl inspired me. Her homework required a game to be made. We spent so much time designing, glueing, wordprocessing and getting behind the maths. I loved joining her in her creativity.
It left time for little else. I was thankful for my meal planning as the house ran smoothly. I’ve promised myself that the other two children will get extra with me, soon. Throughout it, I also fought a cold that has been looming and now has landed. With a thump.
Today, I’m taking care of me. When I decided to join Maureen in her “Taking care of mama” series, I planned more progressive actions. Only actions that moved me forward in a fresh, positive way, but today I need to take a step back and just take care of me. So I’m taking it easy, sipping warmed elderberry syrup and making the most of a heated millet bag. Good job we have nothing planned for Valentine’s Day.
(Oh and just a little knitting)
Sorry about the cold…Get well soon :0)
(the game looks great as does the knitting )
Colds are blah! I’m lucky that wonderful husband stepped in today.
i have a cold, too. 🙁 hope it passes quickly for both of us! that game looks fun! what a neat project.
I’m hoping these colds shift quickly, too. No time to feel sorry for myself for too long. AJ loved taking her game into school and playing it with friends.
Please tell us more about the game. It looks fantastic.
Imagine snakes and ladders meets dominos. The exercise is to recognise a fraction written as a decimal, a percentage or another fraction. Each player has a potion ingredient list, but the quantities have been ommitted. As they match the fraction or decimal on their cards to the pictorial representation of a fraction on the square they land on, they write the fraction against an ingredient. The winner is the first to finish their potion list or reach the end. AJ’s rules are fun, but that is the basic outline. She used a magical theme, so definitely fantastic!
Oh, YES! I would love to have a copy of the rules. My boys love this sort of thing (magical potions) and would love to learn fractions this way. Thank you!!
Hope you feel better soon – keep taking care of Mama! 🙂
Thanks. I’m on the mend. No chance of stepping off the roundabout for too long.
Heading over from All Things Beautiful, love the ideas for this game..
Thanks Ticia. I wish I could take the credit. I helped a little.
