    1. She is a determined child, but loses heart if there is a hiccup. Means I need to encourage without letting her overstretch herself. I think this time I got the balance right. She did a brilliant job. Phew!

  1. Don’t you just love those moments. And, YUM, those brownies do look scrumptious. Makes me want to get in my kitchen and bake some for myself.

  2. Hi Cheryl how old is aj? I have an 11 year old step son who is visiting for 7 weeks. He won’t do anything by himself. Nothing! Is this normal? My toddler plays by himself…, step child driving me nuts. Wish he would bake brownies !

    1. AJ is eight in a few weeks time. They all like doing things for themselves. At the weekends they organise their own breakfasts, so I get a lie in. The one area they are not so keen on doing is tidying up, but I will break them eventually!

I guess we are all different. I’m a great believer in letting my lot get bored. As yet, this has not resulted in a tidy room (I’m not really obsessed), but they do have great fun making up their own games. It gives me valuable time to do my own thing and preserve my sanity. They grow and change so quickly, you might find this holiday easier. Failing that, you could always try leaving out the recipe book.
