Rowing

Rowing on Esthwaite Lake familyRowing. Have you ever looked back at your photos from the summer and spotted one that could be captioned as “That moment”?

girls learning to row together on Esthwaite LakeIt may not be the best photo. Nor the sharpest (yes, my telephoto lens was not with me that day), but it captures a potential turning point. One that in years to come, you may look at and see it as where it all started.

Or not.

In my case, I caught the moment when my daughters discovered that they like rowing. They really like it. Especially Eldest.

girls rowing in lake District They’ve caught the bug.  They work well as a team too. They want to do more.

Rowing on Esthwaite LakeAlthough I’m not sure we can find quite such a stunning location as Esthwaite Water to practise every time. Time to Google rowing clubs.

How about you? Have you caught a potential “That moment” this summer?

  1. I love the idea of “that moment” we have had a few of them, most notably fishing for Guy, though we have just come home from holiday and kayaking down the river as always was one of the real highlights. I hope your girls can find more chances to continue their rowing, they do look like they are enjoying it there. Thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.

  2. What a great moment. I love the kids being interested in getting outdoors. Ours was last summer when the boys learned they loved surfing but unfortunately haven’t had the opportunity to go back yet.

  3. Oh how wonderful to capture that moment and your girls to find something they really like. Beautiful place too.
I hope you manage to find a rowing club for them
    🙂

  4. For us it was the canoe, the boys loved it so much more than I expected! That is a beautiful setting for a first row 🙂 #countrykids
