The poppies have been a big success in our garden this year. A few, galiant stragglers, but most are now seedheads. I love to see the transformation. As they lose their petals and dry, the pepperpot holes are pulled open. Perfect for the featherweight seeds to escape and scatter.
I’m hopeful that there’ll be even more next year. In different parts of our garden too. The best way to ensure this dream? Present the seedheads to the youngest member of the family and leave him to do the rest.
Fingers crossed for many more poppies from these next year.
I’ll be a tad disappointed if we have none next year.
I look at that image of the poppy seeds and it reminds me of the poppy seed bread my grandmother and grandfather used ot give me when I delivered their newspapers on a Sunday! Love the idea of spreading the seeds by giving the flower to the youngest member of the family. Great detail in these images. My daughter also wishes to pass on the following message: The poppy is her favourite flower and out cat is called Poppy.
Your daughter has excellent taste in flowers and what a great name for a cat. Isn’t it great how lovely memories can be brought back by such a simple flower? That certainly is a good memory to enjoy.
Such detail, I’d love some poppies in my garden
Thank you for linking up
Yes. Every garden should have poppies.
There’s something just so beautiful about poppies in their flower and after life stage! Lovely shots! #sundayphoto
I agree. Each stage is worth seeing.
I love the detail, great photos! #MySundayPhoto
Thanks. I find it fascinating.
I love poppies too, and the seed heads make great photographic subjects
I think the structure is fascinating.
I’m sure your youngest will admirably rise to the challenge. I did something similar, when I was a child. The “lupin fairy” created a monstrous jungle after a year or two. lol #MMBC
I can’t imagine lupins and monstrous ever being connected. I bet it was wonderful.
Poppies are beautiful flowers….I hope you get plenty next year. #MMBC
Me too. 🙂
I’ve always associated poppies with Autumn but have seen a number of them in full bloom. I love your photo here. #MySundayPhoto
