It may be overcast and dreary outside, but we are still striving to have our dose of outside fun. Each year, we bring the winter foliage in on the Solstice, but BL and I could not resist a few sprigs to make a wintery centre piece for the table.
There are still plenty of greenery. Even a few flowers as well.
While cutting rosemary in the lavender patch, I couldn’t help missing all the butterflies and bees that were weaving around stems in the summer.
It may be dreary and overcast outside, but a bike ride is still fun. The girls persuaded their father to take them for a bike ride on Sunday morning.
As I watched them disappear up the lane, I realised that they weren’t the only ones out.
A couple in a pony and trap were making the most of the lane on a quiet Sunday morning.
It may be overcast and dreary outside, but this was a photo from this time last year. It must have been colder. Brr!
Joining in with #CountyKids. Hope you all managed some outdoor time.
It is certainly warmer and drier than last year at this time which makes cycling fun. I’m sure it was too wet and slippery on the roads last year. Looks like you live in a lovely spot for cycling off from right where you live. A reminder to me to get on with our table decorations too, thank you and for linking up.
Lovely to bring the outside in. I wish the lane was always so quiet. It does become a bit of a rat run as people commute.
If we send you snow would you send us Holly???
Ha. If only!!!
13 inches and it’s still snowing ..we could spare some …honest :0)
Actually we’ve had such a lot of freezing rain, rain on ice and low temps..some snow is a nice change 🙂
I’m beginning to think dreary weather is not so bad. Keep warm and safe.
Nice idea to bring in the outside, and then a warming bike ride! Love that last pic – very pretty.
It did look pretty last year. Cold, but beautiful.
I imagined the smell of rosemary when I looked at your photo.
#countrykids
I know exactly what you mean. Rosemary is just one of those great herbs to have in the garden all year round. So pleased we have a couple of bushes in the garden.
Looks like your children enjoyed a lovely family cycle ride!
We have lots of holly in the garden which I foget to take advantage of, so seeing your holly photo has just reminded me that I want to make a wreath this weekend. Thanks for a lovely post 🙂
Looking forward to making our wreath too.
Lovely to make your own table centrepiece. Great that the kids were able to get out their bikes too! Love that last photo, very pretty.
One of the aspects of blogging that I love, is being able to look back. Definitely cooler this time last year. It does make a pretty picture. 😀
love all the greenery that you have at your fingertips!
glad you were able to get out and enjoy the fresh air!!
Missing our spruce tree. Our garlands and wreaths are not quite the same, but we do have lots of other different trees in the garden
