These two have always been pals. They used to play as toddler and pup. First few months, pup grew faster and would send her flying, but soon adapted after seeing the tears. She understood.
Now the pup is an old lady and the toddler has grown into a nearly teen. It’s the girl’s turn to adapt her ways to fit with her dog. Slowing. Shorter walks. No hurry. Always talking.
The bond is strong.
A friendship that helps and supports a girl, like no other could do.
How lovely!
#MySundayPhoto
Thanks, Tamar.
Aww! It is so lovely they have grown up together.
That looks a nice place for a walk x
A lovely wal, indeed.
Hi Cheryl, your photos brought a lump to my throat. I am a bit of a softie when people mention their pets growing old and slowing down. To be honest it’s your second photo that did it for me. Very poignant.
xx
Thank Debbie. Writing it brought a tear to my eye too. The old lady is fine. She’s had her recent 6 month check-up and has actually improved, so hopefully there will be lots more walks. She’s still doing about 3 miles a day, so not bad. We are so aware that she is at the upper age range for her breed, so every day is a blessing.
This looks a wonderful place to enjoy a quiet walk
Thank you for linking up
It is a lovely walk. Changes all the time.
I really love the light in the photos! The first one is so sweet! #mysundayphoto
Thanks, Merlinda
I understand the bond between the two well. I still miss our Golden Retrievers and animals I grew up with. #MySundayPhoto
Childhood pets stay with you forever, don’t they? I stil miss ours.
Such beautiful words and sentiments to accompany your beautiful photos. #MySundayPhoto
Thanks Cal
This is so sweet. What a lovely bond, and a beautiful spot for a walk!
It is a lovely walk.
Wonderful relationship – you can tell they’re goo friends.
They are. They certainly are.
It looks so summery and green and how grown up your daughter suddenly looks!
Before my eyes!
You can’t beat a good old walk through the woods, good for your soul X #mysundayphoto
Definitely good for the soul.
so beautiful said and photographed. I agree we ended up getting a puppy to help Aspen with her emotions, and soon we had many animals. They just have a way of making children and us adults feel calmer #TweensTeensBeyond
Could not agree more. They never judge, always listen and don’t offer any mis-placed advice. What more could anyone want, once in a while.
There’s no friendship quite like that between person and pet. It’s lovely that they’ve grown up together. Thank you for sharing such a lovely photo
They were practically the same height when they met.
lovely photo’s, sadly my son has left home now, i think he misses the dog more than me these days #tweensteensbeyond
I think this is the fate of all us dog owning parents. I’m sure it will be the same when my children leave home.
I think that is happening to my nine year old. She finds great comfort in our new dog. It is nice to see it develop I think. Jo x
How wonderful to hear. I’m glad she is enjoying a dog’s company.
That’s beautiful! We don’t have a dog and I don’t think we ever will, but when I read something like this it reminds me of what we’re missing.
There are swings and roundabouts. Not so easy to go away, for one, but I’d rather have the dogs.
I have resolutely failed in the pet department with my teens citing living in London as not ideal for pets. Now my eldest is about to leave home my youngest keeps asking if we can get a pet as if the pet will be a semi-replacement for him. The jury is still out. #TweensTeensBeyond
Ha! I’m sure she doesn’t mean it that way. Although I was replaced by three rescued cats when I left, so maybe……
It is lovely to hear about their bond developing and maturing. Lovely picture
It is lovely to watch too.
Lovely calming post and picture. What dog is it? We have a rabbit but care seems to have fallen to my husband. Not sure what would have happened if we’d agreed to the dog! #tweensteensbeyond
Thank you Nicky. She’s a Deerhound. I have a feeling a dog would not let you forget, compared to a rabbit in a hutch, but I take your point!
What a special photo and such lovely words. I love the bond between kids and dogs. Thanks so much for sharing with us at #TweensTeensBeyond
