After I picked up the children from school and childcare today, we headed into our nearby town to run some errands. We popped into the library, to pick up some books for the children. I wanted to look at fabric. The novelty of the fabric prints soon wears off for the children, so I wanted to be armed with books.
We spent longer in the library, than I intended. It’s a small library, but they rotate the books around all the libraries in the area, so there is always something new to capture their interest. Do you notice how I say “their interest”? When we go there, we are always in the children’s area. It occurred to me today, that I don’t look for books for me. Ever. I used to. When did I stop!
Today I turned tail and headed for the grown-up area. The library is open plan, so I could see them and they could see me. I found the craft area. Its not huge, but I only spotted two books that I have at home. That leaves a lot of books for me to look at. I didn’t choose one today, but I will go back on my own sometime. Few less distractions.
No time for reading tonight. Busy cutting and sewing. The book is just the right size and shape for using as a template. I’ll read it later……when I have time.
Tell me about it. When was the last time I read a story book? If I go I end up getting big cookery books or craft books.
I have a few books by my bedside that are gathering dust. I used to read loads when I commuted into work. My commute only takes about 10 seconds now, as I work from an office at home.
I like to own my books which is expensive so I tend not to read very often either. Intrigued with the sewing and thanks for the link from yesterday.
There is nothing quite like being the first person to read a newly bought book. I re-read a lot that I buy, but I’m not very good at passing them on once I’m unlikely to read them again.
