I wasn’t going to post more Halloween photos this year. It felt enough, but then it occurred to me that next October may look a whole lot different for us. This may not happen again.
You see, we’ve entered twelve months of “last times”. Eldest teen finishes school in June. The likelihood is that she will be elsewhere, this time next year. Youngest is already showing signs of not wanting to carve pumpkins. That leaves Middle Teen and she’ll have so many demands on her time with school coursework by next October, I don’t know if she’ll be keen to carve.
This could be the last year of three carved pumpkins on our doorstep. Or any, for that matter. It’s OK. I’m fine with it. Time is moving on. We’ve had a good run.
Of course, they might still surprise me.
So one last pumpkin carving photo for the road, so to speak. It’s been fun.
It is rubbish that we have all these lasts but all those memories which have been made which is wonderful. I think I’ve got another few years of carving pumpkins with my youngest. She’s Halloween mad.
Enjoy it. You never know where her love of Halloween will lead her.
We are at the same stage with Junior, gcses consume all at the moment and he is too old and cool to do things like his (in his head at least). I guess these things come in seasons and as they age and have families of their own the pumpkin carving knife will come out again. I’m the same about Xmas trees this year, only one child wants one in their room and it makes me a little sad. I may put them all up anyway!
I love seeing them grow, but I guess here will always be part of me that hanker for earlier years. I think your children are very lucky to grow up with Christmas trees in their rooms. What memories they will have.
I’m at the same stage too. One has already left home and his brother doesn’t want to do things on his own. Enjoy these times while they last. #MMBC
I most definitely am!
