Just pondering. If I gave my very new 4 year old, a big cardboard box for his birthday, would he actually want anything more? Maybe some paint. He loved his gifts, but ended the day with the box that I had used to carry them in. As happy as a four year old can be.
In all fairness, when I asked him how he’d like to spend his day, he requested painting, with me. How could I deny such a beautiful and simple birthday wish.
Also pondering. If these cabbage white caterpillars will have a slight tinge of blue in their white wings. After growing fat on my woad plant, this year. I love the idea, but realise it is unlikely.
Pondering why I have started so many new projects in the last few weeks, but have finished nothing…. On second thoughts, I know the answer to that one!
Oh yes, boxes are always the best part of gifts 🙂 Happy Birthday to your new 4 year old!!
The corrugated cardboard ones are very popular here, as they tend to come in bigger sizes and can easily be painted. Great fun!
Happy birthday to your little man. He is growing very quickly! Boxes are just the best entertainment for little people, they can be so many things. A truck, a plane, a car, a boat, a house, a cave, a tent, a tunnel, a cubbyhouse…..and so much more.
Just wondering what the answer to your third pondering is. 🙂

Oh so true. Boxes are very popular in our household. I have to recycle them under the cover of darkness, sometimes, otherwise they would take over the house.
The answer to the last pondering is that I have too many making ideas, but sometimes the discipline to finish, is not quite as strong a driving force. Or another project is more appropriate to do at the time. My mountain of work-in-progress grows to a size and then I spend my time finishing off. I’m just at that point of realisation. Hmm! At least I recognize it in myself!
Boxes are fun, especially when you’re 5 – happy birthday!
Love your thoughts on the woad munching caterpillar 😀
It would be fun to see light-blue cabbage white butterflies, around the garden, and know that they started off on the woad. 😀
