Fresh from our garden – eggs and daffodils
Fresh from our kitchen garden – brussel sprouts
Listening to beautiful music
spinning something that doesn’t look like it could tow a ship
a loyal dog who chooses to keep me company as I learn
with me even when I’m hanging up the washing (her fur is growing back nicely)
wool in a pine cone for the birds
and proof that the minibeasts have survived the winter and starting to re-emerge.
Just little things that I’m thankful for and make me smile.
Hope you are all finding something to make you smile this weekend.
It’s so nice to enjoy the little things and there are many in each day. When I saw your photo of the brussel sprouts, I called out to Miss C. “Come and look at this…..”, she came running all excitedly expecting something other than sprouts. I said “Look your favourite vegetable.” The look on her face was priceless as she realised I was teasing her. We collapsed into laughter ‘cos she hates brussel sprouts. At least I got a smile and a laugh from her, she’s feeling a bit blue today lamenting the lack of friends. 🙁
I love your dog, he has an amazingly flexible body by the looks of those photos.
I’m looking forward to seeing what your wool looks like from your spinning. It’s not an easy skill to learn, but so much fun.
Anne xx
Anne, you have a mischievous streak. Fancy torturing you daughter. I’m glad she found it funny. I’m lucky that all the family love brussels, as I enjoy growing them. We used to call them green cherries when they were small. I think it helped to win the children over. I just love having something fresh from the garden at this time of the year. Absolutely enjoying spinning. I’m going to squeeze in some “me time”, today, and do some more practising. 🙂
[…] just love Time to Craft’s flowing crafts that just roll off the press… just look at the Little Things post, another […]
Lovely little things that are actually very big in their specialness. I have been spinning too! Hooray that the insects are reawakening. We are extremely fond of all the minibeasts here.
I love taking the time to notice the little things. Our lives are full of them. Just have to remember to look. The children are so interested in minibeasts. When one of them shouts, they all come running to see the person’s find.
I was so pleased with my spinning. It actually looked like it should do. I really should practise more and I needed yesterday’s success to encourage me.
It looks like someone was enjoying the music! That photo is priceless! 🙂
She is amazing. As soon as the harp comes out, she is there. Same with the spinning wheel. I think she loves being in the centre of things. Whatever is going on. Keys, coats or torches get her to her feet as well. Long dogs are amazing companions.
You have spring! Eggs and Daffodils ..they look lovely 😀 (the sprouts look yummy too)
We are making the most of the end of Winter ..very cold nights… brilliant sunny days and so we are skiing every chance we get!
The harp and the hound look lovely (bk asks me to say she is VERY cute)
That yarn is most impressive, lovely and even…can I confess my fleece is still waiting for me to release it from it’s box 😳 soon…
I know Spring has not officially started and it could change its mind, but it sure feels like Spring. A real sign of Spring, in this household, is having to beg the children to come in for supper. They are loving the longer days in the garden.
I have images of the fleece bumping around inside the box, trying to get out. It will just have to wait until after the skiing season. 😀
Enjoying every little thing about this post. Neat to see your spinning wheel.
You have done fabulously with your brussel sprouts. Ours have never looked like that . . . they have all been teeny tiny but very tasty!
Ours have been bigger and better the last two years. We used a different variety, planted borage among them as a companion, but a nearby wasp nest dealt with the caterpillars very efficiently. I like the teeny tiny ones. Fiddly to prepare but worth it.
