Sometimes an idea will not go away. As much as I bat it away, with the thoughts ofย “I need to concentrate on my work”. It just won’t go away. The idea uses convincing arguments such as “I’ll only take up 10 minutes of your time, at the most.” Until I just have to give in. Its true, it won’t take long and then I’ll get some piece and quiet.
Today the idea was to make a felt ball hairslide. Fun and colourful. Plus I had everything at hand. I can even call it stash busting. The idea egged me on. So armed with a hairslide, fifteen felt balls and, that crafter’s stalwart, a glue gun, I turned the idea into a reality.
I glued and stuck, in less than the time set aside. I had thought I might need some crafty stitching, for extra securing, but the glue loved the felt and the felt loved the glue.ย It feels like it will stay put. Before I knew it, the idea had gone and I was trying the bubbly slide in my hair.
I now have a new nagging thought. Why exactly did my husband not tell me that the hairslide was wonky? Maybe to remind me that I should have batted that idea straight out of field and got on with work! Or check in the mirror first. Oh well. I’m happy. I’ve now got a fun hairslide!
My goodness, when do you sleep woman? Where do you get all these lovely ideas from? It’s georgous, lovely hair too, not a gray one in sight!
Oh Bridget! You have made my day! ๐ I’m afraid the gray hairs are peeking through at the front, but I set the camera up to put them out of focus! Never dyed my hair. I intend to go gray
disgracefullygracefully! ๐This is the sort of thing that happens to me, you just have to let it take it’s course, and make whatever it is that’s clamouring for attention ๐ The slide looks great, so colourful! x
Glad to see I’m not the only one that suffers from impatient ideas. The wee rascals!
Lovely, so bright and cheery for Spring.
I’m ready for some bright colours in the garden. Not much yet, so I’m happy I made the slide. ๐
Simply brilliant! The hairslide looks beautiful and very jolly. It’s funny how those ideas work. It also happens to me that all of the sudden one idea jumps the queue and materialises itself through me. I actually love theses pops of creative energy!

I have a feeling that the ideas that “pop” are among the best. I should listen to those nagging ideas more often.
Wonky or not, it’s a fun and funky hairslide………you could do a shampoo add with such lovely shiny hair Cheryl. x
Thanks lily. I love the description of fun and funky!
What a terrific idea… hope you don’t mind if I borrow it. ๐
*My daughter came up while I was reading and thought that the photo of the back of your head was me. She’s right. It does look like me!
Blessings, Debbie
I’m sure your hair is far tidier than mine! I hope you enjoy making your hair slide. Be warned. It is a pesky idea that will not be left undone for long. I almost lost the hairslide to my girls, but I have promised to make something similar for them.
Love love love this idea! Yet another thing to add to my “to do” list.
Oh, the to-do list. Mine is far too long. Least this shouldn’t take too long and it is very satisfying to make ๐
cute cheryl! i love wool balls…. ive got mine sitting in a rescued little birds nest.
thank you for the sweet words on my sweater. and to answer your question- no the malabrigo wool did not fade or become less vibrant with a wash, its still as retro strong as ever ! it DID grow though.. about 4 inches in length, wow. i’m glad i had read that. i cut my sweater off at my bellybutton, and it grew just to my fingertips down, perfect.
x
4 inches! Least you were prewarned. Your sweater is beautiful.
Love this idea, really effective, we might have to try this one ๐
Great fun to make and I enjoyed wearing it today. ๐
I love this! And I love the jaunty angle you are wearing it at. Jaunty not wonky – big difference! Did you make the felt balls yourself? I really want to have a go at felting – a course I think is calling!
I guess jaunty is more appropriate. I just didn’t intend it to be any thing but level! The felt balls are a mixture of bought and home made.
