What do you get if you provide a bunch of hula hoops to a group of cousins, and then open the door to the outside? Simple. Laughter and giggles.
Add a bit of music into the mix and everyone is having so much fun, they don’t notice that they’ve been outside hula hooping for over an hour.
And it’s not just for children. Grown-up sisters can benefit from time spent hula hooping together. Restorative.
Lots of fresh air and exercise.
Much innovation too. Who knew that it is possible to race and hula hoop at the same time?
Multiple hoops. Dancing hands. Swirling, looping, laughing. Recording of funny moves.
Time spent hula hooping outside with family was exactly what we needed. Thank you big sister for suggesting it. We had fun.

P.S. In case you are wondering, the hoops are weighted which makes them easier to use. Especially for adults. A different experience from trying to using a child’s hula hoop. Slower and more meditative. Much easier to keep them going for a long time.
What a great idea! Such a simple activity but they are clearly having a blast 🙂
It is a really simple activity. They had so much fun.
I love hula hooping and made my own last year at Camp Bestival. I never realised how heavy a proper one actually is! A great way to enjoy the outdoors 🙂
Fun idea to make your own. The children want heavier ones now, so we may get making (they are not having mine!)
I still can do this! One of my fave activity as a kid and still love! I have a hoop but its not heavy enough for outside wind. #countrykids
It wasn’t too windy, but I suspect that the weights would help. Glad you enjoy your hoop.
Lovely pictures of a great time. Some very skilled young hoopers there. Didn’t we have fun. Hoopla! x x
Absolutely. It was great fun! 🙂
I haven’t used a hula hoop in ages. Bet I couldn’t do it anymore. Looks like lots of fun! Popping over from country kids. x
Bet you could! The weights make a big difference, compared to the light children’s hoop. Much easier to keep it spinning.
Thanks for the tips, I thought they were all looking very expert here! Lovely photos and such simple fun outdoors. Great post, thank you for sharing on Country Kids
Simple activities are often the best. This one is great fun too.
Hula hoops are so much fun! Did you buy them with the weights in already? Little T has been wanting to get one, especially since playing with them at play school last year. But she doesn’t know how to use it yet! But since you mentioned the weights, I’m guessing it will be so much easier for her too? #countrykids.
Yes, the hoop is pre-weighted. My 7 year old soon got the hang of it, so I think little T would too.
I love hula hooping! My husband and I both bought hoops to help us get in shape for our wedding, and they’re still sitting behind the sofa. I reckon I might just have to get mine out this afternoon… X
I love this idea. I hope it gave the desired effect. I love the image of you hula hooping together. 🙂
I love Hula Hooping with my weighted hoop:-) This looks like fun. I really must take it outside more because I keep knocking things over indoors with mine. I would love to get better and be able to do tricks.
I do that too. Much easier outside to avoid hitting something!
That’s brought back so many happy memories. I loved my hula hoop as a child.
Me too. Loved my red hoop at that age.
