From each new experience ….

I am a huge believer that from each new experience, I should be able to learn something new. Today was one of those days.

A bit of background first. One of the big advantages of working from home is that you get to do things that you can’t do in an office. For instance, you don’t have to dress smart, brush your hair, put make up on. Actually that is not so true now a days with skype and the like, but on the whole you can just get on with the work and not worry about getting a ladder in your tights. (No tights, yeh!)

Probably at this point you are wondering what the above picture has to do with all this disregard for appearance. Well, one advantage is that if I feel like a face pack, then I can. I can carry on working, talking on the phone and no one is bothered. Sounds frivolous, but the chances of indulging in a face pack out of hours in this house is remote. If the children are here they join in! In the evening I am rushing around doing all the householdy things that I have tried so hard to ignore during the day. No, so long as I don’t do it before the postman and the delivery men have been, then I am unlikely to scare anyone.

I felt like a raspberry face pack today, as we have a decent crop in the garden.

  1. I put a handful of oats and half a handful of ground almonds in the blender and blitzed it.
  2. Next I stirred in a handful of mushed up raspberries.
  3. Added just enough water to make it sticky.
  4. Then I plastered it on my face.

First time I have done this one. Raspberries are meant to be a skin brightner, but I chose them because of their easy availability.

Here comes the learning-something-new part. As I sat at my desk, with this gorgeous smelling pack on my face, it suddenly occurred to me that , if someone was to turn up at this point, I would look like one of the children when they were younger. Just after a mushy meal. The children never minded that their faces were dirty and now I think I know why. It smells divine and feels good. Why would they want to wipe it! I would look at their little faces and think how messy, while they were thinking how lovely it smelt. I understand, although this does not mean, that I’m going to let them go round with dirty faces.

Now, seeing as no-one turned up and I didn’t have a chance to scare anyone today…..

….I’ll just do it here! Blahhh!

  1. Brilliant I’ve never tried raspberries as a mask
Honey is great and is less obvious if you get caught…people just think you have rather shiny skin lol

    1. I’m going to remember that one. Although at the moment, I’ll have to keep the doors and windows shut, because the bees and wasps would be too interested for my liking.

    1. What do you think. Raspberry crumble? Hmm. Now you’ve got me thinking. If I added eggs and whisky, then I could enjoy a Atholl Blair dessert, as well as glowing skin. Talk about win-win!

    1. Not sure I’d say brilliant. I’m not sure what the books mean by brilliant. Kind of reminds me of soap powder adverts. Clean, soft and clear, maybe. Smelling gorgeous, most definitely.

  2. Wow! I have a ton of rasberry bushes and I had never thought of doing this with them. I am going to try this! Thanks.
