During the night someone decorated my garden

While we slept, a secret army decorated our garden.

They left no corner untouched.

They used nets studded with tiny, clear crystals.

They used their artistic skills to weave intricate designs to delight us.

Everywhere was dusted with the finest crystal powder.

They used every surface to display their masterpieces.

How they must have worked.

They left no clue to their identity.

Nor reasons for their designs

But I appreciate their humour. This flower head was rolled in a tight spiral during the summer.

Maybe tonight they will appreciate some garden soup, that tinkles when stirred.

Or the softest bed of Autumn leaves to rest in. Just for a moment.

So who’s visiting your garden, while you sleep?

Photos from the top:
teasel, ivy, box, cosmos, borage, thistle, rose leaves,  fuschia,
Bramley apple tree, Lacy Scorpian weed, garden soup (contents unknown!)
and leaves (oak, hazel and beech)

Linking this up to Magic Onion’s Friday Nature Table. Go take a look at some more seasonal inspiration.

    1. Our box hedge was absolutely covered with spiders webs. The dew drops made them look like halloween decorations, except much more pretty. Difficult to look anywhere without being inspired to grab the camera.

    1. We walked to school today and every fence, twig and stalk, seemed to have a spiders web on it. All were covered with dewdrops. So beautiful. Wouldn’t notice it in the normal way, but the dew drops seem to act like a highlighter pen! My two girls loved spotting all of them!

  1. Gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing. We had hail and rain visit us in the night, but that is so typical of spring where I live. And its started to hail again as I’m writing this reply. No balmy spring day today. 🙁 I think a visit to a big craft shop with my gorgeous daughters will cheer us up immensely.

    1. I could barely keep the children at the breakfast table. They all wanted to get out there. I can’t blame them. Its wonderful when you see such a clear change in the seasons.
