Crafting afternoons

My craft afternoon in school was great fun. A delightful class of 4 and 5 years old. We made lots of applesauce cinnamon tree decorations, which I brought home to dry in the Aga. They are back at school now, waiting to be decorated by the children. I’m looking forward to seeing the results. Both the classroom and our kitchen smells wonderful.

I went back to the same class a couple of days later to make bath bombs with them. As presents for their parents. It’s TF’s class. When I asked him whether he was making the bath bomb for me, he gave me a slightly guilty look. No, this is a boy who enjoys baths and bath bombs! Ah well. One little girl asked me if I would come back every day to make things with them. Kind of melts your heart. The teacher has already booked me for next year.

I’m going into another class next week to make bath bombs. BL’s class. Maybe she’ll make a bath bomb for me!

This weekend has been busy with a theatre trip to Bath and children crafting. I started a hat for TF. All his warm hats have gone into hiding. I’ll probably find them sometime next summer. I’m using some of the alpaca that I spun over the summer. He’s after a pompom on the top, but I’m favouring a jingle bell. We’ll see.

  1. Sounds like you are having so much fun!!! I really want to try cinnamon tree decorations… though where on earth you buy heaps of cinnamon I am not sure!!! Ours comes in small spice jars… but you have given me something to source and you

    1. I had problems at first finding a large enough quantity of cinnamon, not wishing to resort to buying lots of little expensive jars. Then almost at the same time, I discovered Costco does big jars and also our local health food shop sells it from big containers. Both worked out cheaper than the little jars. Hope you can find a good source.

    1. Oh if you are anything like me, you were googling and commented at the same time! Hope you give these a go. They smell wonderful each year we bring them out!

  2. I love the scent of cinnamon, what great fun to make the decorations with a classful of children, I remember well the time I worked as a classroom assistant, the excitement in the last weeks to christmas was immense……………many days I walked home at the end of the school day through our busy town centre humming ‘Rudolph the red nosed reindeer’, with bits of sticky tinsel and glitter in my hair, oblivious to the stares of bemused shoppers.

Hope you get your bath bomb under the Christmas tree.

    1. Some of the tunes are so catchy. It is a lovely time of year. I feel with lucky that I’m able to join in at school. Hard not to pick up their excitement. I may have to make my own bath bomb, but I don’t really mind!
