Sunday morning, walk in the woods. Hunting conkers.
(Some of the collected conkers are destined to be planted, while the rest will be turned into soap liquid to wash clothes, as an experiment.)

“Conkers” is a word unknown to the American side of the language. 😀 Unless one reads British blogs, that is. The term “being conked on the head” is familiar to us, however!
Buckeyes, I think you call them. Playing conkers is something that children traditionally play in the school playground. Every now and again it is banded, for being potentially dangerous.
beautiful photos! I used to love playing with conkers when I was little. #MMBC
Fantastic photos! I do love this time of year.
My dad has a tree full of conkers. A few are dropping and the kids have been collecting them!
I’m interested to read about the washing clothes with them. x
Still preparing the conkers, but will write it up.
It is getting to that time of year where they are appearing everywhere X #mmbc
What kind of tree has conkers? I’m not familiar with the term. How do you make soap from it? When you do, please write a post about it. Love visiting your site and seeing what you’re doing. #MMBC
Horse chestnut trees grow conkers. I think they are the same as your buckeyes. I’m drying the conkers out, at the moment, but I will document my results.
The liquid soap from conkers sounds interesting. I hope you will write about this more. The leaf moth disease on the horse chestnut trees near me has been upsetting me a lot though. It is very sad to be seeing the leaves going brown earlier than they should.
I will write it up. I’m sorry to hear the trees around you are suffering.
I love this time of year and my eldest loves playing conkers, just as I used to as a kid.
I laugh thinking back at how everyone used to try every trick in the book to make theirs rock hard, like baking them, pickling them and so on! 😆 x
I never actually tried any of the tricks, but did play conkers.
