Castle jumper is finished

The castle jumper has taken much longer to knit than I planned, so I hope you will forgive me for including lots of photos.

“Oh, its got a castle on the front.”

He likes it. Even donning it on a hot day, so that I could take some photos.

“I am a knight of the round table.”

Oh the energy of a four year old.  Even the faithful hound was curious.

“Take that.”

See, he has already slayed one of his sisters. Any excuse really. She is so good to play along.

But all knights have their softer side.

Every knight needs a loyal hound.

See how he places the paw gently to the ground.

Paw up again. Surely not begging!

But this knight’s hound has a job to do.

Who else would a knight trust with his armour and shield?

The jumper is finished and been enthusiastically received. Could he be St George, ready to take on the nextt dragon to wander haplessly into the garden? Nothing like dressing up.

I’ve learnt loads on this project and there are parts that I would have done differently. Not bad for a project that I made up as I went along!

So, if you happen to be in any English Heritage site this summer and spot a small knight in a familiar jumper, please come over and say hello. You won’t be able to miss him. Truly one of a kind!

Please note: No sisters were really harmed during the taking of these photos.
When I wasn’t looking – maybe!

    1. I think he took his role very seriously. Fun was had by all. Especially the hound who was rewarded with a bonio.

    1. Me too! The sandy colour is so lovely and fluffy, I wish I had more of it, but it was handspun by another! 🙁

  1. The jumper is fantastic and the proud owner is obviously enjoying the play acting it evokes. Well done, you are so clever!! 🙂

    1. Thanks Anne. You always say the nicest things! TF is thrilled. Bad timing on my part as today is too hot to be wearing jumpers. I like to think I am ahead of myself. 😀

  2. What a brilliant and obviously very well appreciated design! You have done so well making it up as you go along and he looks so happy with his full knight outfit! Think the trusty hound does a great acting job too! 😀

    1. Not sure the hound was acting. More treat orientated than utter loyalty. There is a bonio in TF’s hand that had her name on it! 😀

    1. Thanks, se7en. I think they are both very happy. One has a jumper, the other a dog treat! We are still riding the history wave, at the moment. I suspect it will continue to influence my crafting and making.

  3. It’s finished!! And it’s fabulous!! I really am so very impressed Cheryl. The photo shoot is enchanting and for a brief moment I actually believed in your knight and his loyal hound! 😉

    Blessings, Debbie

    1. Thanks, Debbie. I know that you have watched this one grow. Ever so slowly! I may have an actor on my hands. Although at the moment, he will only be able to take on roles limited roles. 🙂
