AJ’s butterfly garden is blooming nicely. She is thrilled with the lilac ones and has declared them her favourite ever flower. I, of course, have temporarily misplaced the packet, so I have no idea what they are. Does anyone know? (Edited: found it. It is Lacy Scorpian Weed (Scientific name: Phacelia tanacetifolia). It is referred to as an agricultural weed. AJ said that if she had a field of wheat and found one of these plants there, she would dig it up and plant it elsewhere.)
They have the most elegant stems, which have uncurled like a fern.
I haven’t seen any butterflies on it, but the bees love it. I took several photos of these flowers and each time a bumble bee would arrive on the flower just in time to be an out of focus blur. Funny, when I try and take photos of bumble bees they are truly shy.
The rest of the weekend was taken up with sewing a cloak for AJ’s play (I’ll post that one tomorrow), knitting small hats, picking kilos of blackcurrants, beading and felting. One week of school left, with lots of events to attend and provide for. Yeh!
Busy times, cheers Marie
Too true.
Gorgeous flowers pics.
Our butterfly gardens are also blooming, so you have inspired me to take some photos.
I’m thinking of renaming ours as a bumble bee garden. They come in droves, while I’m still waiting to see a single butterfly stop. Hope you post your photos. I’d love to see them.
