Birthday crafting

It was AJ’s birthday. My first born is eight years old now. From tiny baby to loving, inspiring, live-wire in eight years.

We have had a count down to her birthday for weeks. Hugely excited. She has been dropping heavy hints that she would like one of my dollhouse dolls. So what could I do.

In my excitement to wrap her up ready for giving, I forgot to take any photos. These are taken over AJ’s shoulder as she bonded with her new doll. She is pleased. Very pleased. Hazelnut, as she has been named, has already been on several adventures, which are being written up and illustrated in AJ’s new writing book.

Hazelnut is a waldorf inspired bendy dollshouse doll. I used strawberry fabric from my stash for the skirt and a little bit of lace for her undies. I knitted a little top, which is easy to put on her. I am loving knitting these little fruit hats.

Hazelnut has become best friends with Fixing Pixie. (Spot Fixing Pixie’s new blueberry hat)

It appears that they have discovered a magic teapot which is perfect for adventures. They spent time whizzing around the garden. I loved seeing my eight year old playing a beautiful game with my three year old. Hearing them both contributing to the story line.

So Happy Birthday, my little one. I’m so glad I’m part of your journey.

    1. I didn’t mean the rabbit cake to turn out so bright red. I was busy chatting with a visitor and forgot that a little bit of paste dye goes a long way. Its a while since I’ve used it. Hmm!

    1. I couldn’t stop knitting these little hats one weekend. So quick and satisfying. Fortunately they have gone down well with the children and they are even requesting different fruit such as pineapple.

  1. Happy Birthday to AJ, what a fantastic name she has chosen for her doll. Love the picture of Hazelnut and Fixing Pixie in the teapot.
