This week has been more in balance. I’ve balanced working and creating much more efficiently. The end result is that I was more focused on everything I did, so I hit my work deadlines.
Creatively, I finished the pompom cowls for both daughters. (Instructions here.)
I started cutting out and sewing up my star quilt. The bulk of progress was at the weekend. I’ve been cutting out more diamonds in the evenings, ready to sew a few more stars this weekend. It was lovely having the company of one of my daughters, as she sewed up her quilt top too.
We also made story telling machines. To celebrate the change of the season. (if you’d like to make one, I’ve written up the steps here. Includes a short video to show how they work.)
I even managed to write blog posts for practically every day this week.
In the background, I have been working too. Ticking off so many tasks. I feel I have got the balance right. In fact the more creative I am, the more I achieve in work. Work and play are so closely tied, it appears.
All I need now is to balance the housework a bit more convincingly, with the rest of it. I also have to find time (and inclination) to start putting seeds in pots, some admin, sorting……
Sigh. Maybe next week. One step at a time, I think.
lovely cowls! they look toasty and warm and wonderful texture!
Thanks Karen. I understand that they keep necks warm to perfection.
Yes, the balance!! Something I am never finished seeking. So, you think creativity and work are related? I remember a quote from one of the Anne books by L.M. Montgomery, where Anne said she and her roommates always did their “fun” stuff first in the day, then what they needed to do.
I’d say they are linked. For me at least. Yes, I agree. I don’t think I will ever feel like I have it all in balance, but I’ll try my hardest.
Oh – very nice cowls, by the way.
Thanks, Lisa.
You have been productive! I love the cowls, very cosy. I like the idea of the story telling machines too, I need to take a peek.
The girls love their cowls and, so far, don’t seem to have minded that they are identical. Hope you like the story tellers.
So lovely to have the balance right. Mine’s tipped too much to work this week, so I’ll be striving to tip it back again next week! I do think work and play are closely linked, the play gives you a lift and a boost, doesn’t it? Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Totally. All work and no play. I’m sure it will tip the other way again. Hope yours levels out again.
Balance is a lovely word and something I really struggle with. I know it is because I take too much on but those things all matter and so I carry on in my unbalanced ways so posts like yours give me hope. I love your crafting and wish I could quilt.
I love the analogy of spinning plates when it comes to life balance. There will always be one plate about to fall, but that’s OK. I accept that and am ready to pick it up and get it spinning again.
Oh and my mum said on her deathbed her ONLY regret was doing too much housework!
Now that sounds like a story in itself.
Love the cowls! It is nice when you get the balance more or less right isn’t it? the housework will still be there so I wouldn’t worry too much about that LOL!
Ha! Never a truer word said. It will wait.
It’s lovely when the pieces fit together and everything smoothly interlocks ..rather like a dance.
Some weeks everything is just a little off the beat and sometimes we fall over the rug ..but when it works it’s both refreshing and rewarding.
A well deserved well done 😀
So true. Difficult to keep all the plates spinning. Got to enjoy it when it does go well.
Wow you’ve done a lot of creating this week. The star quilt looks great. #WotW
The quilt has grown from a simple pincushion to a bigger project, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
The cowls look great – as does the patchwork. Looks like your balance is going great. Look forward to seeing the quilt progressing #wotw
Thanks, Stephanie. The quilt is coming on nicely. Decided to make it a size bigger, which means even more stars to make.
What a lovely productive week. Those story telling machines look great – what a fun idea. Love the fabrics for your star quilt too 🙂 #WotW
Thanks Louise. It has been busy. In a good way.
