I finished another dinosaur, over the weekend. This is a doplidocus made from the felted remains of a favourite jumper of mine (sob!). I decided to go for one colour and add spots this time. Each of the dinosaurs take on character as I sew them up. This dinosaur’s head is slightly tilted to one side, which is unplanned, but gives it an endearing look.
The dinosaurs are all just the right size to play with the children’s dollshouse dolls. Fixing Pixie, which is TF’s doll, can ride perfectly on the doplidocus. I hope TF plays with them like this. All four dinosaurs are his Christmas present.
AJ kindly offered to show how big the dinosaurs are. She is really taken with the dinosaurs.
I may have problems getting the dinosaurs back. She likes them. Just one more dinosaur to make. I am about half way through this last one.
Other crafting to show you. There were three birthday parties to ferry the children to this weekend. I love making the presents that the children give, but I felt inspired to buy crafty presents this time. I couldn’t resist including a little bit of handmade happiness, so I made mini toadstool key rings. These were attached to the front of the parcels as decorations. I’m hoping the birthday children will enjoy them.
While I was out shopping, I spotted felt ball coasters in one shop. I was very taken by the bright colours and simplicity of the coaster. I love all things felty, so when I got home, I put this together.
It works perfectly with a mug of coffee. I think I will be making some more. They would look so cheerful on the table.
So did you make anything this weekend?
Endearing is the perfect word to describe your soft toy, and a great way to remember a beloved jumper.
I love the idea that my much loved jumper is now going to be (I hope) a much loved toy for TF. Who knows what its next life might be!
That dino has character ! :0)
A very Pretty coaster ..we were needle felting either snowballs or felt baubles for the Christmas tree…it just depends who you ask …lol
And cutting out felt stars as a starter for decorations…
Thanks Val. I can see how snowballs and felt baubles could be similar. So long as they are white. Pink or green would make interesting snowballs. Sounds like you had a crafty weekend too.
That coaster is AMAZING. So bright and fun. Love that you make your children’s Christmas presents. I am trying to buy handmade stuff this year since I don’t have any of that kind of talent! The recycled paper ornaments that we made this weekend were a stretch for me.
To be honest, the coaster is so simple that, as long as you can thread a needle, you are half way done. Even making the felt balls is fun for the children to do. I’m trying to buy handmade as well, preferably locally produced. I really appreciate the skill that goes into these products.
