Ancient Egypt

We have a bit of an ancient Egyptian theme going on at the moment. It is AJ’s topic at school this term, so we went off to the Bristol museum to see their collection. The children loved it. Lots of questions. Lots of interest.

For their bedtime story I read Croco’Nile by Roy Gerrard. The rhyming story is great to read and the pictures are detailed and its worth spending some time looking at them.

On most pages there are a series of hieroglyphics, which I had already decoded some, so I knew they are real words. Tomorrow AJ is keen to read the rest, along with some related crafty activity, now we’ve done our research.

  1. Your blog is great! I am especially enjoying the Ancient Egypt project, my boys are very into this right now, so you’ve given me some fun project ideas & a good book recommendation. Thanks!

    1. Oh, I’m glad I could help, Michelle. We’ve just come to the end of Ancient Egypt and I know they have enjoyed learning about it. There was one more activity that we made, but it is in school at the moment. I’ll try and remember to post it when we get it back.
