L is for lions in the leaves.
When we moved into our current home, the previous owner had left various garden ornaments. The windmill was handed on to my Grandma, who took a fancy to it, and all but one of the gnomes have disappeared over time.
At the end of the drive are two stone lions. They sit on a wall with a beech hedge behind. Every so often, I realise that they have disappeared into the hedge. Consumed by the leaves. Sometimes it takes me a couple of years to realise that they are covered, then the secateurs come out and the lions are released. Again.
They are not old or antique, but their dignified stance, as they watch people advance up the drive, guarantee them a place in the garden.

Good choice for L 🙂 he looks very majestic doesn’t he #Alphabetphoto
The position adds to their majestic air.
How lovely! I like the idea of them slowly disappearing before being rescued again from the leaves 🙂
I think the slowness is the reason I don’t notice the leaves taking over again. If it happened suddenly, they might be rescued earlier.
It must be nice to discover these ornaments around your garden! It just look majestic.
One time the children asked if the lions were new. That’s how long they had been in hiding!
I think your lions look great: very regal and dignified. I also love your copper beech. They are such great trees. In spring I love how their copper leaves contrast with the fresh green of the other foliage. All the best, Bonny
There are the 2 types of beech in the hedge and it does look good.
I love that lion, he looks so majestic
Just as a lion should be. 😀
I’m not a huge fan of garden ornaments but these are really nice – very understated and regal!
Me neither. The lions don’t shout out and the one gnome tends to hide, which is why he has survived. Grown fond him over the years. He has earned his place by surviving 17 years with us!
Great choice for L, fabulous lion – they must look so majestic when they’re uncovered. Lovely post, thank you for sharing with #alphabetphoto
Wow, what a great statue to have in your garden #alphabtphoto
They add interest, when they’re not covered!
