About finished knitting and optimistic dogs

All change in the knitting and book department, this week. I finished Rumpole. Can’t beat a Rumpole. Gentle humour. The master of maneuvering a situation from tricky to settled. Plus a mystery to solve, as he beats the system. You know it will end well.

I also finished my knitting. Two Pompom cowls. Two. I amaze myself.

One for each of my daughters. There was just enough yarn to complete them both. They love them, which is just the icing on the cake for me.

I cast on 20 stitches and knitted until it fitted comfortably over their heads. Joining the ends together to form the tube. I tried two methods. Sewing, and casting off from both needles together. The latter method was the winner, as pulling a series of pompoms through for each stitch was hard work.

I’m left with a small amount of pompom yarn which I’ll dress up gift wrapping with.

Now the cowls are off my needles, I’ve decided to concentrate on finishing my second sock, although a few more cowl orders have been placed, but I reckon it’s my turn.

I picked up my copy of the Minaturist, which has been skulking in the pile of books beside my bed. After reading reviews of the next one in the series from fellow yarn-alongers (thank you for the suggestion), I decided I needed to find out more. Only a few pages read so far, so jury is still out.

I have to show you what was happening behind me as I took these photos.

Just back from her walk, and sporting the windswept/rain look, she could not take her eyes off the knitting book cake. As yet her attempts at levitating cake from the table have not worked. She finds waiting until my back is turned, to be the perfect scenario. She might be old, but she can still move like the wind when there is a chance of cake.
