“Are you knitting that for me?”
“No.”
“Who are you knitting it for?”
“Me.”
“Yes, for me.”
“Oh…..What is it?”
“A head warmer to keep my ears warm.”
“Why?”
“My ears got very cold when we walked to school this week.”
“Oh…….My ears hurt. Can I have one in purple, please?”
86-10 Headband in Alaska from Ravelry. Super quick.
Joining inΒ Maureen‘s Taking care of Mama Monday (day early), by actually knitting something for me!
(I’m going to knit a more colourful one next time. In the photos, it looks so big on my daughters. Just perfect for me!)
You are Setting a valuable example ..taking care of yourself Good for you!!!
and it looks rather nice too :0)
It certainly keeps my ears warm. I have some blue wool lined up for a different style headband (less of a Klingon look!) π
Gorgeous way to keep your ears warm!

I’m not very good at wearing hats, so this may be a good way for me to stay warm. So nice to knit something for me!
love it xx
Thanks. Not glamorous, but oh so warm!
Oh, how funny – I went through the same conversation with my daughter about a scarf I was knitting for myself. She wants one now too.
Your headband looks wonderful and warm.
Ah, not just my household that is under the impression that knitting for self is an alien concept! I must knit more things for me. Just to break the concept, of course. π
What a great way to keep warm – I am off to discover more about taking care of Mama Monday and that ravelry pattern! π
It was so quick to knit. Sometimes I really need a quick knit fix and this one fit the bill!
I think that conversation happens in every knitting mamas house. I hope your beautifully hand knitted ear warmer keeps your ears snug and warm on those cold walks to school! You deserve to have warm ears!!!! hehee! I think I just found my next knitting project!
Thanks for joining in this week! Feel the self LOVE!!!

It doubles up as a cowl, as well. I tried it out this afternoon when I picked up the girls. Toasty ears as I walked down the lane. I’ve already “ear-marked” another headband pattern from Ravelry. I love that site!
I agree that you are setting your daughter a wonderful example by taking care of yourself. Such an important discussion.
Enjoy your headband!
That is a good point. It would be so easy to do all my “taking care of me” when the children are not with me. Less interruptions, but no opportunity to lead by example.
