My son loves being a builder. Even though he is only 2 1/2 years old , he is convinced he can take on almost anything, so long as he has trusty wooden hammer and his collection of other tools. It is hardly surprising as we have grown-up builders in working on various parts of the house on a regular basis.
Imagine his frustration when everytime he was faced with a particular job, he could never find the right tool. Hey, we’ve all been there. Cupboards would be checked and toy boxes emptied. Hmmm. We needed a solution.
So for Christmas I made him his very own tool belt with plenty of pockets for tools and his collection of wooden nails and screws. I cut up a much loved pair of maternity jeans. There are four pockets with two hidden behind the back pockets from the jeans. I used two strips of velcro for a fastening at the back. I had a Cath Kidson fabric sample with racing cars on it, so I cut it up and used it to decorate the tool belt. I am so pleased with how it turned out. All the materials used were from my stash, so a truly frugal project.
Now he knows that he has the right tools to help Daddy with any job including changing the washer in the downstairs toilet. Then after a busy day our little builder likes to cool down in his very own mud bath. Happy days.
This is sooo cute! And your son is too!
Thanks Chelsey. He loves the belt. Over a year now since I made it for him and he still wears it. Still fixing everything .
