Origami Mice Tutorial

Step by Step Origami mouse

Prepare paper. Make it square.

Fold square in half, along the diagonal

(edited: if there are different colours on each side of paper, then the mouse will be bi-coloured. The head will be one colour and the body and tail will be the other. When you make this fold, the body and tail colour will be inside.)

Fold the triangle in half again, so A and B are together.

Fold B corner down to corner C. Turn over and fold A corner down to corner C.

Fold corner B down to corner D and corner A down to corner D. Like this…

Split the E corner apart. It will become a square. Plain on one side and ….

…like this on this side.

Fold top layer of bottom, corner up, so the point is on the cross.

Fold the same layer again, so that the fold lines up with the diagonal line.

Turn it over. Fold edge over. Lining edge with fold line.

Fold the other edge to the fold line again. Shape now looks like a kite.

Turn over again and fold along the fold line. (Nose at top and tail at the bottom.)

Fold the tail, to form a triangle as shown and crease.

Tuck dotted fold line into the mouse, to secure the shape of the mouse.

I use something flat and thin, like scissors or a key, to push the base of the tail in.

Finally flap the ears out and pull the tail out slightly.

And you are done!

Please let me know if I’ve missed anything out or I’ve not explained it clearly enough.

credit for design to Paul Jackson. I hope my tutorial helps to make his line drawings of the little mouse a little easier to follow for those of you that prefer photos.

You live a very inspiring life – I am just thinking about growing some veg – have 1 chicken – 3 children and am also lucky enough to live in the new forest.

Lots of love to you and your family x
