Rain stops play…or not

crosses win

After school it rained. To be fair, it rained on and off all day. It’s just more of an issue if it rains after school. TF is desperate to play cricket as soon as he gets home, which is fine when it’s dry. He can usually round up enough people to play, but not in the rain. The rest of the family are fair weather cricketers only. Full stop.

hoops and crosses game in progress

Times like this, it is fun to have something up my sleeve. Something slightly different. We like to play noughts and crosses, so I knew the children would love Hoops and Crosses.  They did.

They took turns to challenge each other and agreed that each player could eat two of their pieces at the end of the game.

They loved them. Roast beef is not a usual choice for us, but the children liked them. There were plenty of hoops and crosses in the bag for several games. Reading the back of the packet, they seized on the idea of having a packet in their lunch bags. I can just imagine the games that would be played, using a grid of knives and forks.

Cricket forgotten. For now. Well at least until the sun comes out again.

Disclaimer : we were sent the packet of Hoops and Crosses, and the cheeky looking monkey, to review. This is a sponsored post.
