Is it a froglet or a toadlet?

toadlet on stone

The little bit of rain we had brought out this little chap and hundreds of his brothers and sister. We cannot walk in the garden, for fear of treading on them. Is it a froglet or a toadlet?

In passed years, they have squeezed under the doors and come inside. It is very strange to feel that someone is watching you and turn round to see a row of these little chaps looking up at you. As they cannot make it back up the step again, they have to be caught and taken out again.

Not sure if they are toads or frogs. They are tiny. This is one next to a new 5 p coin. The coin is about 11/16ths of an inch or 17mm and the frog/toad is smaller. They are just babies. We don’t have a pond and neither do the neighbours, so I don’t know where they come from each year. They are most welcome. The children get so excited finding them. To be honest, so do the grown-ups!

edited: Is it a froglet or a toadlet? This is a toadlet. We have both frogs and toads in the garden. Our frogs and froglets tend to have a stripe or two and are lighter. They are very jumpy and seldom stay still long enough to pose for photos.

    1. They seemed fascinated by us. One sat on my desk while I was working, just watching me with its huge eyes. Very cute.

    1. Gosh! I’ve never met anyone who can’t abide frogs and toads. Don’t look at the photos and I sure hope I’ve not given you a disturbed night!

    1. Thanks for the confirmation. If I was a betting person, I’d have gone for toads as we have grown-up toads in the garden, but I’ve not seen many frogs in the last few years.
