  1. “Conkers” is a word unknown to the American side of the language. 😀 Unless one reads British blogs, that is. The term “being conked on the head” is familiar to us, however!

    1. Buckeyes, I think you call them. Playing conkers is something that children traditionally play in the school playground. Every now and again it is banded, for being potentially dangerous.

  2. Fantastic photos! I do love this time of year.
My dad has a tree full of conkers. A few are dropping and the kids have been collecting them!
I’m interested to read about the washing clothes with them. x

  3. What kind of tree has conkers? I’m not familiar with the term. How do you make soap from it? When you do, please write a post about it. Love visiting your site and seeing what you’re doing. #MMBC

    1. Horse chestnut trees grow conkers. I think they are the same as your buckeyes. I’m drying the conkers out, at the moment, but I will document my results.

  4. The liquid soap from conkers sounds interesting. I hope you will write about this more. The leaf moth disease on the horse chestnut trees near me has been upsetting me a lot though. It is very sad to be seeing the leaves going brown earlier than they should.
