Morning walk

These two have always been pals. They used to play as toddler and pup. First few months, pup grew faster and would send her flying, but soon adapted after seeing the tears. She understood.

Now the pup is an old lady and the toddler has grown into a nearly teen. It’s the girl’s turn to adapt her ways to fit with her dog. Slowing. Shorter walks. No hurry. Always talking.

The bond is strong.

A friendship that helps and supports a girl, like no other could do.

  1. Hi Cheryl, your photos brought a lump to my throat. I am a bit of a softie when people mention their pets growing old and slowing down. To be honest it’s your second photo that did it for me. Very poignant.

    1. Thank Debbie. Writing it brought a tear to my eye too. The old lady is fine. She’s had her recent 6 month check-up and has actually improved, so hopefully there will be lots more walks. She’s still doing about 3 miles a day, so not bad. We are so aware that she is at the upper age range for her breed, so every day is a blessing.

  2. so beautiful said and photographed. I agree we ended up getting a puppy to help Aspen with her emotions, and soon we had many animals. They just have a way of making children and us adults feel calmer #TweensTeensBeyond

    1. Could not agree more. They never judge, always listen and don’t offer any mis-placed advice. What more could anyone want, once in a while.

  3. I have resolutely failed in the pet department with my teens citing living in London as not ideal for pets. Now my eldest is about to leave home my youngest keeps asking if we can get a pet as if the pet will be a semi-replacement for him. The jury is still out. #TweensTeensBeyond

    1. Thank you Nicky. She’s a Deerhound. I have a feeling a dog would not let you forget, compared to a rabbit in a hutch, but I take your point!
