May Day

Happy May Day.. or Beltane…or 1st of May

We’ve had a day of enjoying nature, planting, watching maypole dancing and other celebrations. Finished off with a trip to the cinema to see Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2.

It was a good day. I now have a host of music from my younger years and the phrase “I am Groot” on permanent loop in my head, but that’s good.

As I gardened and planted raspberry canes, I could see and hear thunder and lightening in the next valley. Certain rock anthems, from last century, playing all the time in my head. The children counted the gap between the lightening and thunder to estimate how close the storm was to us. The storm gradually creeping closer, but it didn’t make it over the hill.  My raspberries are in. Phew!

Hope you all had a wonderful day too.

  1. Rather jealous you had thunder and lightning nearby! We had dark clouds and rain but that was it. Fortunately we were sheltering at the time in a bird hide – feeling very happy as we’d just seen a cuckoo (perfect May Day timing!)

    1. A cuckoo. Fabulous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one, but heard a few over the years. There used to be one in our woods, behind the house, each year. They return to the same spot, but I guess it didn’t make it back one year, and that was that.
