Five Little Ducks went out to play

It rained and hailed today, on and off. TF and I went for a long overdue shopping trip in the brief lull between the bad weather. Popped into the fabric shop for cat fabric and came out with…

…cat and hen fabric. I’ve already cut into the cat fabric and I am forming an idea of an Easter treat with the other fabric. The red cat looking up at the mouse on its head is so cute.

Once home, I needed an indoor activity for a toddler. Back in the winter we made a snow man fuzzy felt play scene based on the “Five little snowmen, fat” song, which we found on Frugal Family Fun Blog. Check out Emily singing the song, if you have a moment.

This is our version. It has been played with a lot over the winter. BL even sang the song at school for show and tell. We’ve loved it, but the snow has gone. The little snowman at the end has started to thaw. Its time for a change.

We searched TF’s room for ducks that we could use to trace around and found some from a shape sorter that were the right size. I used some yellow felt to cut out five ducks and cut reeds out of green felt.

TF had fun removing and replacing the ducks at the right point in the song, “Five Little Ducks went out to play”. Maybe next time I could do “Five little speckled frogs” or the one about the elephant playing on the spiders web.

  1. We used to have fun with “Brown Bear Brown bear what do you see” (like here only our pictures weren’t quite as posh…lol

also “Ten Red Apples” by Pat Hutchins ..only if I remember right we drew the pictures on card with bright markers , cut them out and stuck little bits of velcro on the back and these would stick on a home made flannel board
(Can you guess I loved fuzzy felt as a child? )
