Images from today:

{beeswax in can, ready to melt inside the Aga}
{using the heat of the Aga to keep the wax melted for our first time candle dipping}
{hanging candles to dry – at last I know what to do with those pipes}
{earth candles}
{candle cakes}
{Gwinny with rainbow on her head}

Connecting to history and marking the seasons.  Great Candlemas craft activities.

  1. How I admire you doing all these wonderful projects with your children.
    Have never made dipped candles. Mr T did go through a spell of making candles and they lasted so much longer than the bought one’s.
    Another nice post, thankyou

    1. I’m on the look out for a candle dipping workshop or demo, but the children are really into it. Even little TF stood up on a chair by the Aga (not allowed to usually – only allowed to use the Aga if you are tall enough, in this house!) and was very business like. Such fun!

    1. The canine in question was not so keen. One member of the family spotted it, two others grabbed cameras and the rest all stood around. She was unsure of the sudden attention, but took it in her stride. Probably still wondering! Humans!

    1. Oh poor you. Not much fun feeling under the weather. I think I prefer our day. Keep warm and I hope you all feel better soon.

    1. The children (and me) loved this activity. I see more beeswax candles in our future. Really nice that they are all old enough to do this with now.
