After what seems like months of no eggs, one of our old girls have laid. Yeh!

Not bad considering that there’s not a spring chicken among them. Five hens aged between 3 and 6 years old.

Maybe they are feeling the days drawing out again.

Yey! We collected an egg this morning too, theres nothing quite like a fresh egg is there. I suppose it makes up for the mess mine are making at the moment too!

Don’t mention the scratching up to my husband! They have the run of the whole garden, but they still manage to spread earth over the path leading to the front door!

I’m looking forward to baking today with my fresh egg. Hopefully it means no more shop bought ones for a while, although I really shouldn’t count my eggs till the hens lay them. Fingers crossed all the same.
