Poppy Seed Head #MySundayPhoto

The poppies have been a big success in our garden this year. A few, galiant stragglers, but most are now seedheads. I love to see the transformation. As they lose their petals and dry, the pepperpot holes are pulled open. Perfect for the featherweight seeds to escape and scatter.

I’m hopeful that there’ll be even more next year. In different parts of our garden too. The best way to ensure this dream? Present the seedheads to the youngest member of the family and leave him to do the rest.

  1. I look at that image of the poppy seeds and it reminds me of the poppy seed bread my grandmother and grandfather used ot give me when I delivered their newspapers on a Sunday! Love the idea of spreading the seeds by giving the flower to the youngest member of the family. Great detail in these images. My daughter also wishes to pass on the following message: The poppy is her favourite flower and out cat is called Poppy.

    1. Your daughter has excellent taste in flowers and what a great name for a cat. Isn’t it great how lovely memories can be brought back by such a simple flower? That certainly is a good memory to enjoy.

  2. I’m sure your youngest will admirably rise to the challenge. I did something similar, when I was a child. The “lupin fairy” created a monstrous jungle after a year or two. lol #MMBC
